This describes my life.
SAM: To students, former students, and friends. Please complete the following statement:"You know you have been in orchestra too long when..." Be nice. This is a public forum.
Youu have nightmares about your violin smashing into a million pieces. It's horrific.
A leatherman isn't just a handy tool... It's a form of torture!
the all black dress you bought specifically for orchestra concerts starts to show signs of serious wear and tear
you start saying "Music is fun!" after countless hours of the school musical rehearsals
You're able to tolerate those weirdo band kids.
you've called Sam "Dad." You find this unsurprising as you spend more time with him than you do with your family.
you wake up with the viola part to "Simple Symphony" or "Fiddles on Fire" stuck in your head.
You have dreams about sam. a lot. and nightmares about missing early morning every night during sprink break.
Your favorite tune is now Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies instead of something more popular like Viva La Vida o Big Country.
Roger says that you know you've been in orchestra too long when you are laughing at Sam's jokes!
You start pounding out random rhythms on your body during math class!
You successfully convince Sam that your boyfriend should come along on the Chamber Orchestra tour as the "Orchestra Aide" ;DSecretly Sam, I would love nothing more than to still be in one of your orchestras today. I could NEVER get enough! ♥
I thought of another...when you spend your whole first paycheck on Snapple so you can pay somebody off...more than once.
you can throw "Sam Quotes" into everyday conversations without batting an eye. Oh, and when you try to convince everyone around you that the shortest pencil is better than the longest memory.
You can still play the chair part to Lord of the Dance.
These are soooo true! I thought of a few more:*you wake up early on weekends to get ready and then realize THERE ARE NO EARLY MORNING REHEARSALS ON SATURDAYS OR SUNDAYS!!!*you realize that all of your friends are either band or orchestra members and that everyone else is just weird or "doesn't get it"*you get callouses on your fingertips or a violin/viola hickey under your chin and you WANT to show it off*you start to think that wearing all-black is normal and not at all goth... Read More*all of your worst fears are orchestra/music/performance or conductor-related*your highest goal in life is to go Pro or to conduct an orchestra*you feel like "blood or vomit" are the only acceptable excuses for getting out of or missing anything important*You get bursitis in your shoulders as a teenager*all of your money goes to tour*all of your time goes to orchestra*you sell your soul to the conductor in your delirium of sleep-deprivation
Kjersti Jones: You have no finger or toenails left, and the answer to every possible question is "watch the conductor". By the way these are the funniest answers ever, and I'm still laughing at every comment.>

You're Never Lost When You Can See The Temple
I am been grateful for the experiences I've recently had with the temple. Ever since I was little my parents have tried to take me and my siblings to temple open houses that were near. I have been to the Bountiful, Vernal, Mt Timpanogas, Nauvoo, and now the Draper Temple open houses.
I love to see the temple I'm going there somday...

My brother is pretty cool
I love my brother Nathan. He's 12 and he rocks at singing. For a 12 year old boy he has an incredible voice, and he makes up crazy awesome harmonies. He's soooo funny. He'll sit at the computer playing his stupid computer games, but in the process he'll just be singing away. He sings hymns, broadway, country, instrumental, anything. It's hilarious. He'll sing the song through the first time just the melody and then he'll sing it again, but this time just making up harmony that would sound so good with the melody. Oh, man I just wish I had a recording of it. The other day my mom texted me and said he was in the bathroom singing scales to the following: I'm on druuuuuu....g's. haha He better not be, but it's still makes me laugh. He's famous for making up new lyrics to songs. For example: Josh Groban's You Raise Me Up is now You Push Me Down, so I can fall down mountains, etc. My personal favorite is John Denver's Sunshine On My Shoulders:
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me sunburn, sunshine in my eyes can make me blind. Sunshine on the water fries the fishys, sunshine without ozone makes me die.
Who comes up with stuff like that anyway? One day I was sitting at my piano playing the Sunshine on My Shoulders song and I saw those words written in, and I started literally laughing out loud to myself, and our home teachers showed up and saw me through the window. They said I looked retarded, and it was embrassing, but I told them why I was laughing. They didn't think it was that funny, but whatever. (sorry that was kind of a lame story)
Anyway, he's just a little example. It's not much, but we try. Oh, and by the way, the only way I could get him to record this was if I made my mom tell him he couldn't have cake for dessert until he sang with me.

Dress Up!

I know it doesn't look like me, first of all because I'm black, but it rocks. I was totally a Jamacian one year for Halloween, and I won the best costume prize. :) I got like a $25 gift card to the movies.

I love musicals! One of my favorite musicals to dress up for (besides The Music Man) was Seussical the Musical! I was Mrs. Mayor. I had a husband named Mr. Mayor, and a daughter named JoJo. It was the best show ever and i got to spray my hair pink!
Me and my roommate Bri dressin' up as cowgirls for the rodeo.
Dressed up in an authentic Russian hat. (That's Zion in the background) One night Bri and I decided to have a truly rockin' guitar hero party! We danced and danced, and rocked and rocked. Plus I have fish nets on and it doesn't get much better than that! To cool off we climbed up on our roof and looked at the stars that night. :)

My friend Anisa wasn't fully "dressed" for the occassion yet but those are my favorite glasses ever! Of course I only get to wear them when I'm at California Adventure, but the 3-D Bug's Life movie is my favorite! I would dress up in those glasses anyday.

On Valentines Day in high school I decided that because no one like me enough to give me chocolate and flowers I would make the best of it and dress up like a freak anyway! I got my pink Converse for 15 bucks and I love them. They fit the occassion perfectly. Thanks Ari for the awesome striped tights and the little pink boxer shorts. Oh, and my Hello Kitty shirt has Hello Kitty with an affro. (does afro/affro have one or two f's?) Good memories.

It's kind of the same situation here, the same old, same old "spirit day" at school. Springville is like the most not spirited school, so once again I make the best of it and dress up anyway. :)

I found that "shirt" I'm wearing at a park in California. It's off a palm tree but it was incredibly amazing and so I just had to dress up. (Thanks Malachi for helping out with the photo shoot. :) )

Girls camp. Skit night. Need I say more?
Mud volleyball is probably one of my favorite things ever! You get covered with mud, freeze, spray off with the hose, try and dry off outside while freezing before you're allowed in the house. Stuff as many friends in your shower as possible (mostly clothed), get mud out of hair, clog the drain with mud, get mud out of hair, get mud out of body crevices, get mud out of hair...find mud on the ceiling of your bathroom weeks later. Good Times...yup. :)I saved my favorite "dress ups" for last....... See if you can guess what I truly am inside. :)

You guessed it! An old lady! It's by far my favorite costume, not only do I look rad, (not to brag...) but I can play the part. I just have to point out the subtle things that complete each costume. Knee highs that aren't knee high. Gold watch. Pearl necklaces. Shawls. Big glasses. Tape on glasses. Wigs. High belts and saggy boobs. Umbrellas and feather boas. The perfect "slouch" and shuffle walk. Stomach sticking out. Awesome purse. No teeth? Pumps and flat shoes. Anyway, you get the point. A lot of thought goes into these costumes. My mom of course dosn't appreciate that some of these items came from her drawers and closet. :)I should probably put a disclaimer...I love old people and old ladies! This is not meant to disrespect anyone! In all honestly I'm going to live my life being young now, but when I get old, I'm going to truly get old, knee highs and all. I respect the elderly so much. They are so smart and wise. I hope to someday be there, and be able to be a lot smarter and wiser than I am now.
It's now officially 3:57 and I really should try and sleep because I'm going to Springville in like 4 hours. Have an awesome weekend everyone! (or whoever reads my blog).

Take A Chance On Me
A couple of weeks ago me and some friends did a dance for our ward talent show. We chose to do Take A Chance on Me by Abba. It basically rocked. We started making up the dance the night before and perfected it while eating Arby's curly fries. Poor Mary, she fell off a chair in the process, and we all laughed at her for so long...until we found out a couple of days later she sprained her ankle. haha So sad. Anyway here are some pictures.
